MATT HARRIS and Ramona Holloway have known each other since 1995. What started as a friendship led them to where they are today...co-hosting what Creative Loafing Readers call "Best Afternoon Drive Radio Show" in Charlotte. Matt grew up in Doylestown, PA where he learned to love Football. "Its a great sport.......guys can get together every Sunday and watch a game- it doesn't get any better than that." Growing up, Matt painted houses to earn extra money, and he won "Fan Favorite" on his High School Basketball Team. "Fan favorite means you are the worst bench warmer on the team, and they feel sorry for you", Matt says. Matt has worked at radio stations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Virginia. "It feels good to be in Charlotte. I used to do morning radio, but now I love having fun with listeners on their way home from work...plus, I can sleep in A LOT later!"
BRENT O'BRIEN, aka "Bandy"is the Executive Producer of "The Matt & Ramona Show." On the air, he's called "Bandy." Brent was born in Louisville, Kentucky and grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa as the son of a preacher and a teacher. Brent wore an eye patch for an entire year in Kindergarten because of a lazy eye (problem fixed) and currently suffers from a condition known as restless leg syndrome. Because of that, he doesn't get the amount of sleep the average person does. He's single, but warns that flatulence from a woman will not be tolerated. "She does that on a first date, and it's immediately over." Brent enjoys sports (he follows the Kansas City Chiefs and of course the Kentucky Wildcats), woodworking, and spending time with family, friends, and his beagle named Toby.
Kary Bowser Jr., aka "Doc" is the Co-Producer of "The Matt and Ramona Show" On the air, he's called Doc. Though he's lived in the South since he was 4, Kary still considers himself a Yankee since he was born in Burlington, New Jersey. Kary was an intern with "The Matt and Ramona Show" before coming on board as a producer. Matt said "You can join the show as long as you agree to drive me around everywhere I want to go." Kary is single, but swears he's not a player. He says "It's not my fault the ladies love me!" Kary enjoys sports, music, video production, driving around, and reading.
Pete Kaliner, aka "The Pitbull" was born in a sleepy little suburban town of West Islip, New York. Actually, it's not a town at all - but rather a hamlet. Pete completed his primary and secondary education by the age of 18, at which point he fled the northeast for the warmer climate and the friendlier people in the southeast. He attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina where he majored in English. Then "undecided." Then Journalism. Then Mass Communication Broadcast. He minored in Political Science and was upset to learn he could not double-minor -- for he had enough credits in Philosophy, as well. Despite such a bitter disappointment he persevered, and was able to graduate in 1997 with a Bachelors degree and no double-minor.
Upon graduation from college, Pete was offered a full-time job at the NPR affiliate WFAE - where he had been an intern the previous year. He took the job, but soon grew restless. He was a membership assistant and that meant he mailed listeners coffee mugs, T-shirts, and bills. He also handled the daily deposit of donations. He liked handling all the money... even if it was all checks and not cash.
Pete then left for a part-time job at a small radio station named WRHI where he quickly rose through the ranks (thanks in large part to everyone else leaving).
After a few years of paying dues, Pete was hired by WBT and quickly rose through the ranks (thanks in large part to everyone else leaving).
Pete also worked one season for the NBA Charlotte Hornets Radio Network. Then the team left for New Orleans. However, Pete is not bitter.
After the attacks of September 11, 2001 Pete began providing news updates for the Matt and Ramona Show. Apparently, this made life easier for the staff there and they asked Pete to continue to do so.
Pete has won several industry awards from the Associated Press and the Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas - which named him the 2006 North Carolina Journalist of the Year.
Pete is 30 years old, is a Sagittarius, and enjoys political debate, live music, reading, football, playing guitar, camping and taking long walks on the beach... although he lives nowhere near any beaches.
He has been dubbed the "Angry Pit Bull " by Matt and Ramona, although Pete does not consider himself to be angry. "I prefer to call it passion," he says. "However, as far as nicknames go - I really shouldn't complain. After all, I could've been named Shrek or Beano or something like that!"

Chris Miller, aka the "News Goat" fills in for Matt and Ramona's news segment when Pete is out. Every weekend morning, Chris Miller brings Charlotte its first news of the day as anchor of "Charlotte's Morning News -- Weekend Edition." Chris, a Charlotte-area native who grew up with the radio always tuned to 1110, joined the WBT news team in April 2002. It was WBT's coverage of Hurricane Hugo (which hit the area the day of Chris' 7th birthday) that peaked Chris' interest in broadcast news. Chris now finds himself working with many of the people he grew up listening to, including Don Russell and John Hancock. When he's not at the anchor desk, you'll often find Chris reporting on other stories that have Charlotte talking. A self-described political junkie, Chris has reported on a number of local, state, and federal races, including former Sen. John Edwards' 2004 presidential campaign. Chris graduated magna cum laude from Queens University in Charlotte. He's an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils and the Boston Red Sox. Chris lives in south Charlotte.
